About the Chevrolet Corvette C8
Launched in 2019, the C8 broke with nearly 70 years of tradition by switching from a front-mounted engine to a rear mid-engine layout.
History and trivia
The architecture change brought the Corvette's handling closer to that of far more expensive European supercars, improving weight distribution and traction under acceleration, while keeping a starting price that's remarkably competitive for the performance on offer. It's the eighth generation of the model since its 1953 debut, and the first ever offered with a mid-engine layout as standard.
