About the Bugatti Veyron

With an 8-litre W16 engine producing up to 1,001 hp, the Veyron reached 407 km/h in its Super Sport guise, a certified record it held for years.

History and trivia

Launched in 2005 after a development programme under the Volkswagen Group considered one of the most expensive engineering feats in automotive history, the Veyron needed ten radiators to cool its enormous quad-turbo W16 engine. Despite its price tag, every unit was reportedly sold at a loss to Bugatti — a deliberate choice made to demonstrate what the brand was technically capable of.
