About the BMW 2002 Cabriolet

The BMW 02 was built from 1966 to 1977 and is considered the spiritual predecessor of the 3 Series, with the cabriolet body built by coachbuilder Baur.

History and trivia

The 02 series (1502, 1602, 2002 and its ti/tii/turbo variants) marked BMW's sporting resurgence after its financial troubles of the 1950s, and the 1973 2002 turbo was the brand's first turbocharged road car. The cabriolet version, with its semi-convertible "Targa" roof built by Baur, was hugely popular in period Germany for combining open-air motoring with the rigidity of a fixed rear roof section.
