About the Audi R8
Launched in 2006, the R8 was Audi's first road-going supercar, with V8 and V10 engines derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo.
History and trivia
Its name honours the Audi R8 racing prototype that dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the early 2000s with five outright wins. The road car shares much of its engineering, including its aluminium and later carbon-fibre architecture, with the Lamborghini Huracán, a result of technical collaboration within the Volkswagen Group.
