About the Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon

The Alfa Romeo 159 launched in 2005 as the successor to the 156, and the Sportwagon estate version followed soon after, offering the same sporty look with more cargo space.

History and trivia

Styled under the direction of Giorgetto Giugiaro (Italdesign) and built on the "Premium" platform shared with General Motors, the 159 stood out for its trilobed grille and an unusually expressive line for a family car. It stayed in production until 2011, when Alfa Romeo discontinued it without a direct replacement, leaving a gap in the lineup until the Giulia arrived.
